Your edited PDF is ready

Your files are deleted automatically 1 hour after your last action.

Most everyday PDF edits are additions: filling in a form that has no fillable fields, writing a note on a plan, adding a logo or a photo, circling a figure, pointing at a problem with an arrow, or covering an outdated phone number and writing the new one. The S-PDF edit PDF tool is built for exactly these jobs, right in your browser.

Open your file, pick a tool and click on the page. Everything you add can be moved, resized or deleted until you save, on any page and at any zoom level. When you save, your edits are merged into the page, so the document looks the same in every PDF viewer and on paper.

How to edit a PDF in 4 steps

  1. Open your PDF Drag your PDF onto the upload box or select it from your device. Move between pages and zoom in for precise placement.
  2. Add your content Choose text, an image, a rectangle or ellipse, a line or arrow, the pen for freehand drawing, or Whiteout, then click or drag on the page.
  3. Adjust until it fits Move, resize or delete anything you added. Set the font, size, colour, bold and italic for text, outline and fill colours for shapes, and colour and thickness for the pen.
  4. Save and download Save your changes and download the edited PDF. Your additions are merged into the pages so they look the same everywhere.

Why use S-PDF for Edit PDF

  • Styled textAdd text in sans serif, serif or monospace with your choice of size, colour, bold and italic.
  • Images and logosPlace PNG or JPG images such as logos, photos or stamps anywhere on a page.
  • Shapes and arrowsFrame areas with rectangles and ellipses in your own outline and fill colours, and point things out with lines and arrows.
  • Freehand penSketch, underline or annotate by hand with a pen in any colour and thickness.
  • WhiteoutCover text or marks with a white box, then type new content on top.
  • Looks the same everywhereEdits are merged into the page when you save, so every viewer and printer shows them identically.

What you can change, and how

This editor adds content on top of your pages. It does not rewrite the text that is already in the PDF in place. In practice that covers most jobs:

TaskHow to do it
Fill in a form without fillable fieldsAdd text on each line or box, using a font and size close to the form's own
Fix a typo, a date or a priceCover the old text with Whiteout and type the new text on top
Add a logo, photo or stampInsert a PNG or JPG image and resize it
Mark up a plan or proofread a draftUse rectangles, ellipses, arrows and the pen, plus short text notes
Rewrite whole paragraphsConvert with PDF to Word, edit there, then convert back with Word to PDF
Sign the documentUse Sign PDF to draw, type or upload your signature

Replacing a word with Whiteout

  1. Zoom in on the word and draw the Whiteout box slightly larger than it, so no edges of the old letters show.
  2. Add a text box on top. Pick serif if the document looks like Times, sans serif if it looks like Arial or Helvetica, and monospace for typewriter-style forms.
  3. Match the size and colour by eye at a high zoom, then line the new text up with its neighbours.

On a coloured or tinted background a white box stands out. Draw a rectangle instead and set its outline and fill to the background colour.

Whiteout covers content visually; it does not delete the text underneath, which may still be found by searching or copying. To remove confidential information for good, use Redact PDF.

What saving (flattening) means for your edits

When you save, everything you added becomes part of the page itself. That is deliberate: comments and annotations from some apps look different, move or even disappear in other viewers and when printed, while flattened content stays exactly where you put it. The trade-off is that your additions are no longer separate objects that can be dragged away or deleted with a click, so keep your original file if you might want to change your edits later, and start again from it.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to edit a PDF?

Yes. You can edit up to 10 files and 50 MB per task, 5 times a day, with no signup and no watermark. Pro ($5 a month or $50 a year) allows 50 files and 500 MB per task, unlimited tasks under fair use, and no ads.

Can I change the existing text in a PDF?

Not in place. To change a word or number, cover it with Whiteout and type the new text on top. For heavy rewriting, convert the file to Word, edit it there and convert it back to PDF.

How do I fill in a PDF form that is not fillable?

Add a text box on each line or field and type your answer. Choose a font and size that match the form, and use the pen or a short text mark to tick boxes.

Can I add a signature with the editor?

You can place an image of your signature, but the Sign PDF tool is made for it: draw, type or upload a signature and add initials and the date.

Does Whiteout remove the text underneath?

No. It covers the text visually, but the original may still be found by searching or copying. Use Redact PDF to remove sensitive content permanently.

Can I move my edits after saving?

Before saving, everything can be moved, resized and deleted. After saving, the edits are merged into the page, so keep your original file if you might want to redo them.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

Yes. You can add text, images, shapes, drawings and Whiteout on top of scanned pages just like on digital ones. To make the scanned text itself searchable, run the OCR PDF tool.

Are my files safe?

Files are sent over HTTPS, stored in a private folder that is not reachable from the web, never shared or used for anything else, and deleted automatically one hour after your last action. The Delete my files now button removes them immediately.
