S-PDF is a split PDF tool built around one idea: you should see your pages before you cut them. Drop in a PDF and every page appears as a thumbnail. Click the pages you want — or type numbers like 1-3, 8 — choose how to split, and download the result a few seconds later as a single PDF or a ZIP of separate files.
There's no account to create and no watermark on your pages. The split happens on our server with qpdf, an open-source PDF engine that copies pages instead of re-drawing them, so text stays sharp and searchable and scanned images keep their full resolution. Your files are deleted automatically one hour after your last action, or immediately when you click Delete my files now.
How to split a PDF in 3 steps
- Upload your PDF Drop a PDF on the box above or tap Choose PDF file. Every page appears as a thumbnail within seconds, even in long documents.

2-5, 9. Then pick Extract pages, Split every page, Split every N pages or Delete pages. - Download the result Click the button at the bottom of the tool. You get one PDF, or a ZIP with every part — and you can also download the parts one by one.

Four ways to split a PDF
Different jobs need different cuts, so the tool offers four modes:
- Extract pages — select pages and save them as a new PDF. Keep them together in one file, make one PDF for each range you typed (for example one per chapter), or save every selected page separately. More on extracting pages from a PDF and splitting by page range.
- Split every page — turn a 40-page file into 40 one-page PDFs, delivered as a ZIP. Useful for payslips, certificates and scanned forms. See split PDF into single pages.
- Split every N pages — cut a long file into equal parts, such as two-page forms or ten-page chunks for an upload portal with a size limit. See separate PDF pages.
- Delete pages — click the blank, duplicate or confidential pages and download the document without them. See remove pages from PDF.
While you choose, the thumbnails show exactly what you'll get: selected pages are highlighted, deleted pages are crossed out, and each new file is marked with a "Part" label on its first page.
What stays the same in the new files
Because pages are copied rather than re-rendered, each new PDF keeps the text layer (so you can still search and copy text), embedded fonts, vector drawings, images at their original resolution, page sizes, rotation and the links on the page. A 300-page report splits in a few seconds, and the parts together are usually about the size of the original.
Two things don't carry over: bookmarks from the original's outline panel (they would point to pages that may no longer exist) and open passwords. If a PDF asks for a password when you open it, unlock it first — the tool tells you when that's the problem. Files that only restrict printing or editing can be split, and those restrictions stay on the new files.
Free and Pro limits
The free plan splits one PDF of up to 50 MB, 5 times a day, without signing up. That covers the vast majority of school and office documents. Pro raises the file size to 500 MB, removes the daily limit and the ads, and adds batch splitting: drop up to 20 PDFs and apply the same split to all of them in one go.
Every plan handles files of up to 3,000 pages and up to 1,000 output files per split.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF into separate files?
Upload the PDF, choose "Split every page" for one file per page or "Split every N pages" for equal parts, then click Split PDF. You download all parts together in a ZIP, or one at a time.
Is it free to split PDF files here?
Yes. You can split a PDF of up to 50 MB five times a day without paying, signing up or getting a watermark. Pro is only needed for bigger files or heavy daily use.
Are my files safe?
Files travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection, are stored in a private folder that isn't reachable from the web, and are deleted automatically one hour after your last action. You can delete them instantly with "Delete my files now". Nobody looks at your documents.
Will splitting reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. Pages are copied into the new files exactly as they are, so images aren't re-compressed and text stays sharp and selectable.
Can I split a PDF on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in Safari, Chrome and other mobile browsers on iPhone, iPad and Android. Tap Choose PDF file, pick the document from Files or Drive, then tap the pages you want.
How do I type page ranges?
Separate pages and ranges with commas: 1-3, 8, 10-. A range like 10- runs to the last page and -3 means pages 1 to 3. Extracted pages come out in the order you type them.
Why does it say my PDF is locked?
The file has an open password. Open it in your PDF reader, enter the password and save or print a copy without it, then upload that copy.
How long is my download available?
For one hour after your last action. After that the files are deleted for good and you'd need to split the PDF again.
